I Love the Spring!!

OK, so I don't post for 2 months, and then 2 posts in a row. I'm quite unpredictable, aren't I!?! Actually, I hate posting without a picture, and I didn't have any pictures to post before, so maybe that had something to do with it...

I just have to say that I love the Spring. Each of the seasons has something good about them, but there is nothing better than the flowers blooming after a cold winter, and the leaves on the trees returning. And the weather is perfect.

There are good things and bad things about being a homeowner:

Good - you get to have a yard
Bad - you get to take care of a yard

Front yard grass and flowers

Yes, it is a lot of work, and we really have so much more to do to our yard. But I can say with complete certainty that we have the best looking grass for at least a mile in any direction of us. Josh has a complete green thumb. I only wish I had a picture of the grass when we bought our house 2 years ago. In the front yard, the grass was SUPER long and mostly dead and full of weeds. The grass in the backyard was a very sad sight - I'm actually quite surprised that Josh was able to bring it back from the dead. But Josh knows just how much to water it, when to fertilize, when to mow - I really think it is his pride and joy!

The flowers are gorgeous right now. The spring flowers are my favorite - all of the tulips bring a smile to my face! I get sad that they don't last longer than they do. But I love the colors of tulips that I planted - they really are much different than anyone around us. There is pink and purple and white and a really dark purple that is my favorite. I'm planning on planting even more this fall!!

Besides the grass and the tulips, our yard still needs a lot of work. I'm planning on posting our progress with both the house and the yard here - and also to get some opinions on different things. So be prepared to comment!!

I'm A Big Liar!

Obviously, I haven't posted again since I said I'd post many weekends back. Actually, it's been 2 months since I posted last - I am totally a slacker!! I could give every excuse in the world, but I won't. Let's just say I've been busy and this isn't my highest priority.

So what's been going on?

Josh is still not back to work. He was supposed to go back a while ago, but his doctor wouldn't sign a release that he is back to 100%. He signed a release, but it had some stipulations, and Josh's work didn't like that. So Josh talked the Dr. into giving him a release, but then they had already brought somebody back in his place. Now we are patiently waiting. There is a position in Weber, but I really don't want him driving an hour and a half home when he is working until 2 am. Just not safe. And not worth it to have to pay for a hotel or somewhere for him to stay so he is not driving home in the middle of the night. We have heard rumors that they are putting together another crew at the point of the mountain, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. If nothing happens by the end of the month, we'll start looking for something new. We just don't want to give up his benefits (pension, etc) that he has acquired the last 2 years. So I guess we'll just wait and see...

Update on his knee - it's basically totally trashed. We already knew that he needed a full knee replacement, but the dr is trying to put it off as long as possible. On Josh's last appointment, they took a new xray, and his knee is even worse since his scope a few months ago. So the plan right now is to have a pretty big surgery this next winter - a surgery he will have to have before they can do the replacement. He will need about 3 months of recovery time, so we are waiting for the winter so Josh can take the layoff again. Hopefully he will survive until then. I don't know how long after the replacement will be, but this will be the next step.

We're going to New York!! I'm super excited. When Josh told me that they are tearing down Yankee Stadium after this year, I knew he would love to go, so I started planning. The day tickets went on sale, we bought 2 pairs. Then I found out that a co-workers dad has season tickets, and he sold us some killer tickets. We have 2 pairs of tickets to sell now, but since all the tickets sold out within like 15 minutes, we should be able to make some money off of them. Good thing, because New York is really expensive these days. It's been probably 4 years since I was there last, but I know hotels weren't this bad then. We're hoping to get a good deal on priceline, but so far we haven't had any luck. I booked another hotel that we can cancel if we get a room on priceline, but from the looks of it, there are a lot of conventions going on that weekend, so we might be out of luck for a cheap room. We leave next Friday, so the countdown has started!

I quit my second job. I worked for a total flake, and the money vs. stress was totally not worth it. I am pretty much done now, but now I have to start paying for my own internet, and I'm gonna have to buy a desk. But I can't tell you what a relief it is! Now I don't feel like I have to go home from work and work some more. I would rather spend my time working on Scrapifieds, anyway!

Hmm, I'm trying to think of anything else going on, but I think that about wraps it up. Makes it seem like I'm not so busy afterall...

Back this Weekend

I've been meaning to post all week, but work is busy (for once!!) I'll post this weekend.

And I should have predicted the AI top 12 - I would have totally been right!!

American Idol - Season 7

Is it just me, or is anyone else a little dissapointed in AI this year so far? I guess I don't usually watch until the top 12, so maybe once everyone has been on the stage a few times, they will be better. But my aerobics instructor told us this morning that she was watching an interview with Simon Cowell, and he said that all but about 5 of them this year are "rubbish".

Of course I have to go with the home town boy. Not only that, but he blew everyone else away this week. And I think he definitely has a chance to go all the way. Did you hear the audience when he was up??

This is just based on Tuesday's show. I really liked Michael Johns in the preliminaries, but I haven't loved him the last 2 weeks. But I thought David did a really good job on Tuesday, and he seems like he is taking the criticism and actually trying to be better.

Not So Boring

So, on Wednesday mornings, I go to a step class at the gym. This morning, in the middle of class, I fell. Yep, right on my butt. I wasn't being klutzy or anything (which is usually the case), but my ankle gave out at an inopportune time. Besides being a little embarrassing, (I was in the front row), my butt really hurts where I landed.

I guess my life is not so boring after all...

Boring Life?

I was talking to a sister the other day about blogging. I was saying that I don't really keep this blog up, mainly because I really don't have a whole lot going on in my life. We don't have any kids yet, so no cute kid pictures or kid stories to tell. My job is not interesting - you certainly don't want to hear about it on here! I could tell about my day, but that would be the same thing every day - wake up, go to the gym, go to work, come home, make dinner, do some work, watch some tv, go to bed. Not exactly exciting.

So since I don't think anyone really reads this anyway, I might just start posting about the random thoughts I have and the random things that go through my head. This might be just as boring, or maybe just embarrassing!

Max's Second Birthday

It seems like just yesterday that I was posting about Max's first birthday. Granted, it's not too many posts back - because I am so bad about keeping up on this blog!

We didn't do anything special for Max's birthday, but I did make him some pup-cakes. He gobbled it down and wanted more!! The recipe can be found on my food blog.

We sang "Happy Birthday" to him, and he couldn't help but sing along. I sure do love this pup!! I'm a little embarrassed to put this on because my singing voice is not the best, but Max steals the show anyway!
