Book #33 - Sapphique

Sapphique
Catherine Fisher

Blurb: Finn has escaped from the terrible living Prison of Incarceron, but its memory torments him, because his brother Keiro is still inside. Outside, Claudia insists he must be king, but Finn doubts even his own identity. Is he the lost prince Giles? Or are his memories no more than another construct of his imprisonment? And can you be free if your friends are still captive? Can you be free if your world is frozen in time? Can you be free if you don't even know who you are? Inside Incarceron, has the crazy sorcerer Rix really found the Glove of Sapphique, the only man the Prison ever loved. Sapphique, whose image fires Incarceron with the desire to escape its own nature. If Keiro steals the glove, will he bring destruction to the world? Inside. Outside. All seeking freedom. Like Sapphique. (From Goodreads)

Opening Sentence: "The alleyway was so narrow that Attia could lean against one wall and kick another."

Length:Long- 480 pages

Notes: I have to admit - I'm loving this series.  Although it looks like maybe it won't be continued??  (This book was written in 2008, and no word of another book.)  I think this series is a little confusing to get into to begin with, but once I started to understand what was going on, I was hooked.  Here's to crossing my fingers that a third book will come out one day!

Random quote: “He sang his last song. And the words of that have never been written down. But it was sweet and of great beauty, and those that heard it were changed utterly.
Some say it was the song that moves the stars.”

Recommend: yes

Wanting to Crawl

Someone is being a big boy and wants to get around!! He is going to be crawling before I know it!

Easton 6 Months

Since I am a slacker and didn't post these when I should have, and because my memory is horrible and I can't remember the milestones at each month, these posts will just be pictoral updates of each month.

1st Annual Mitchell Family Reunion

We have been talking about starting an annual Mitchell family reunion for awhile now, but this year was the year to start!  Kacy was in charge, and we all had so much fun!

Most of the adults started the day by going to Mary Poppins at the Capital Theater.  I was sad to miss out on the fun, but we all met up at Kacy's house for dinner.

After filling our bellies, we headed down for a night full of fun at Boondocks.  This was the first time I had ever been to Boondocks, and we were all ready for some fun.

First up was the boats.  I opted to stay out, to watch the babies (and Abbi was too scared.)

I have to admit that although it looked like lots of fun, I was kind of glad not to be wet and cold!!  (Sorry - there are a lot of photos - and I seriously narrowed these down.  It was hilarious to watch everyone!)

If you are one of the lucky (dry) ones watching, you get to stand and laugh at pictures and videos you took of everyone else!

Just a little bit wet!

Then we headed over to the race cars for a few races around the track. So much fun!

Abbi loved playing inside in the kid's area, although she was still mostly scared to go climb in the big play area and go down the slide. After some coaxing from Janell, she warmed up a bit and had a good time. We also went on their 3d ride a time or two, and then decided to head out for a round of mini golf.

Unfortunately, it was dark outside by this point, so all I have are a couple of really bad iPhone pictures. But Abbi and I played with my mom and dad, and had a great time! When we were all done, we all met up and ate some dessert and Kacy had brought all kinds of prizes. It was a success! We all had lots of fun, and can't wait for 2012's family reunion!

Day at the Duck Pond

Finding ourselves with a bunch of heels from loaves of bread, (does anyone eat those even???), we headed to a nearby park to feed the ducks. It was our first time at this park, and we couldn't believe how many ducks there were!! Abbi had a blast, and had a few scares from ducks that were a little too friendly and wanted to come right up to snatch the bread. It was a gorgeous afternoon, though, and I think many of those ducks had full bellies after we were through!
