Easton Randoms - April

Here are Easton's random photos from April!

This boy has a facination with being on the couch!

And he's a very messy eater...

Love that smile!

and more smiles

and more messy eating

He has been teething a lot lately, and I think that's why he started walking around biting on his tongue.  I think it's pretty cute, though!

Where's your nose?

Caught in the act!

Haircut time!  (I think this was his 4th.)  The sucker sure helped to keep him still!  (and this was also his first sucker.)

Snacker

Running away at grandma & grandpa's house

and yes - more messy eating!

Abbi Randoms - April

I haven't been very good at keeping track of the funny things that Abbi says.  In fact, I only have 2 written down from this month.  Both were while we were waiting for Tami & Janell at the museum.

"He doesn't have a roof on!"  (when seeing a convertible pull up in the parking lot)
"She's not stuck in her car anymore!" (I told Abbi that Janell was stuck in traffic because of an accident.  I guess she thought that Janell was literally stuck in her car!  So she was excited to see Janell walking towards us.)

**update - I was a little better than I thought - just found these that I had written down!

Abbi & I were getting ready to go to the dinosaur museum.  I had some raisins on the counter, and Abbi asked if we were going to bring raisins for the dinosaurs.  I told her that the dinosaurs aren’t alive anymore, that they lived a long time ago.  Abbi said “a long time ago?  Like Jesus?”

4/17/12
I was making French toast, and Abbi made a comment about French fries.  Josh asked her if French Fries come from French toast, and she said “no, they come from Arctic Circle!” (she’s only had Arctic Circle once in her life – I have no idea how she comes up with these things!!)

And the random pictures from the month:

Field Trip Fun - Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival 2012

It's time for the Tulip Festival!! For this week's field trip, we couldn't skip the Tulip Festival. This is the 4th year in a row that I've been, and it's one of my favorite yearly traditions.

This year, Janell and I first met up for lunch in Lehi at Emmett & Ethels. I was really excited to eat here, because I had read so many good things about it. But unfortunately, we were a little underwhelmed. I do have to preface this, though - right after we went in, a school bus showed up with about a million kids, and they obviously weren't prepared for it. There were only 2 people working, and we saw them frantically calling people to come in to help. And honestly - this was probably why our food wasn't the best - because they were rushing to get through all of the orders, but I was still disappointed...

But then we drove up to the Tulip Festival for to see some beautiful flowers!! The weather was perfect - it had been really hot the previous days, but we got lucky and got cloudy skies. I was almost afraid that it would rain on us, but it was perfect and not too hot. I feel like I take the same pictures every year, but all of the flowers are so pretty that I can't help but take about a million pictures!! The kids, of course, had a great time, and it was a wonderful afternoon!

Easton's New Trick

Someone has learned a new trick that makes my life a little bit harder.

This means lots more trips up the stairs for me - chasing after this little guy!!

Backyard Fun

One of the things I miss the most about our house is the backyard.  Not only did I love having all of that outdoor space to ourselves, but it was nice that I could just open the back door and let Abbi run and play while I watched from the kitchen. With our house now, there is a small outdoor area, but it's not private and it's not fenced.  And the backyard opens up to a huge field, so it's definitely not safe to just let my kids out to run and play.

But every once in awhile, especially after being cooped up in the house all day, we all just need a little bit of backyard fun.

It's amazing how these two can take something as simple as running in the grass, and turn it into the best afternoon ever.  Oh, how I love watching them run and play together!!

Field Trip Fun - City Creek

We'll call this one - You Win Some, You Lose Some...

I decided that we'd go to City Creek to check it out for this week's field trip.  It would be basically free, partly outdoors, and I thought it would just be a fun day out for the kids and I.

I was wrong.

We started off with lunch at Hagermann's Bakehouse Cafe.  I want to go to restaurants that we've never been to on these field trips, and I checked online beforehand and this sounded like a good choice.  I didn't want anything sit-down, (too crazy with just me and 2 kids!) and we had been to a lot of the other restaurants that were there.  So we headed over, and I started to worry as soon as I looked at the menu.  They didn't have any sort of kid's menu, (at least not that was posted), and I didn't know what to get that the kids would even like.  I settled on a turkey sandwich for the kids to share, and I got the roast dip.

We were already in trouble because Abbi just wanted to sit in the stroller, and Easton did not want to sit in the high chair.  I should have known that this was going to be a bad idea!

Our food arrived, and while my sandwich had the potential to be really good, I was disappointed because they really skimped on the jalepeno jelly,  and that is what really made the sandwich something different.

And the kids didn't even touch their sandwich, but they loved the cookies!!  (Oh, and I got a lemon bar, too, which tasted nothing like lemon.  Disappointing...)  After lunch, we headed out to see what there was.  We saw a Disney store, and Abbi's eyes immediately lit up and she got so excited.  You would have thought we were at Disneyland!!  We headed in, and she was in heaven.

But then the 2nd bad part happened.  She spotted the princess dresses, and wanted one.  I told her that we weren't buying any princess dresses today, and she was not happy.  I was able to get her to look around the store, but she just kept wanting to go back to the dresses.  She did not want to leave that store without a dress!  I basically ended up being that mom that was carrying a screaming toddler, (while also pushing the stoller), all the way to the car.  And she screamed the entire time.

I think they were both tired, because I had a few other errands to run, but they both fell right asleep in the back. I ended up parked in a parking garage where we all took a short nap, and things were much better after that. I guess they can't all be full of lots of fun, right??? :)
