Book Recommendations?

I'm going to make this quick because I have a ton of pictures I have to have edited tonight, but I need some ideas!

My computer is SUPER slow. In fact, the other day, it took me almost 30 minutes just to edit 1 picture. Granted, it's not usually that slow, but it does have it's days. What I used to do was to surf the web while I was waiting for an action to run, or waiting for a picture to save. But I have since figured out that my computer runs much faster, still not fast, but faster when the internet is closed down. But then I started getting bored, still having to wait. Until I remembered the book I was reading.

Now, after weeks of trying to find time to read, I was able to finish my book in a matter of days. And now I'm really excited, because I have found the time I was looking for to read!

But now I am not reading anything since I finished my book. But I don't know what to read next, and I know a lot of you are big readers. So please leave me your suggestions!! I need both popular book suggestions, and maybe some that are older or that other people don't know about. I usually get my books from the library, and some of the more popular books have waiting lists months long. So let me know what you've read lately and what I need to read!

Oh, wow, WHERE do I even begin? If you haven't read it, you should definitely read Anne of Green Gables. As for some more contemporary books that I love...White Oleander by Janet Fitch, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, and absolutely anything by Jodi Picoult. I recently finished the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella, and they were lots of fun, so I'd recommend them to! And, of course, the memoir Julie & Julia by Julie Powell, but that's probably pretty popular right now, with the movie and everything.

Seriously, I could go on all day!

Oh! And The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker was really good. And Serena, by Ron Rash. Okay, I'm done now.

Definitely the Hunger Games series. The second one (Catching Fire) just came out in September. There's probably a wait for those. I think Hunger Games has been my favorite book this year. I've mentioned Goose Girl to you. One of my favorite books of all time...super cute. I think there's 4 in that series. I've always loved the Women of Genesis series by Orson Scott Card about women from the bible. Of course it's just his own take on them but I liked the books. I'm currently reading The Great and Terrible series by Chris Stewart. The first book is called The Brothers, about the war in heaven. Again, fictional of course. I'm loving them (and getting freaked out at the same time. Talk about motivation to get food storage together!) Try The Giver by Lois Lowry. Did you read The Host by Stephanie Meyer? That was a good one, too. Okay, let me know what you get!! Oh wait...what about Poison Study. It's the first book (of a trilogy). I just picked up the second one, Magic Study, from the library. Can't wait to read it!

OK. They're absolutely ridiculous, but I'm reading the Sookie Stackhouse books. (I'm on 4 right now.)

I've started a book club, and our first book to discuss next month is Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons.

I'm also reading Beach Music by Pat Conroy. His first book - Water is Wide - changed my WORLD. But some people don't like it. (But totally SKIP The Great Santini. It's awful.)

And have you read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn? Be still my heart I love that novel. (My top fave books EVER are To Kill a Mockingbird, The Mill on the Floss, The House of Mirth and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.)

Ditto, ditto, dotto...to all! {even though} I haven't read some of them, I have only heard good things about all of them! Just to add to your list, "3 cups of tea", "The school of essential ingredients" and "My Grandfather's blessings". Again, highly reccomended by a friend who was bed ridden for over a month and read LOTS of books :) Ohhh...I think I will go cozy on up and read tonight!

So of course I LOVE to read...and I got some good feed back from a similar post I made on my blog...but here are some good ones I have read recently...

The Host by Stephanie Meyer - you might have already read this book...but it's awesome (if you only like realistic books though, you may not like it)

The Little Lady Agency by Hester Browne- Its a fluffy read, easy with a romantic story line. But I loved it (and there are 3 books in the series)

I haven't read this one...but I have heard good things about it-
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Hope that helps!
let me know if you read any good ones!!

We're reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving outloud right now. It's a fun, quick read and definitely available at your library. Plus, it's holiday appropriate!

You should sign up for Goodreads.com. I love it. You can see what all your friends are reading, along with their comments and ratings on those books. I now have like 50 books on my to-read "shelf." I have read so many books in the last year or two just from seeing what other people have been reading. Seriously, it's awesome. I think you can do it through Facebook, too, but I would go straight to Goodreads.com to start out.
