4th of July - 2012

We decided ot stick with tradition this year, even though we are living a little farther away.  We woke up bright and early to head down to Provo for the balloon festival.

We should have left just a little bit earlier, because the balloons were already off the ground by the time we got there.  And Max was being spastic, (this will be the last year he comes - he just doesn't do well with crowds), so we didn't really stay a long time.

But the kids loved seeing the balloons - and I won't lie - so did I!!

And again - tradition - we stopped in at Del Taco for breakfast.  Crazy traditions!!

From there, we headed over to the parade.  Now, people are crazy with the parade - sleeping out to save spots.  But we always head to our same spot which has been available the last couple years, and always empty when we get there about an hour before the parade starts.  It's not the best spot, because it's at the beginning of the parade, and you sort of miss the marching bands, but really, it's not bad at all for only having to get there an hour early!!

Abbi loves the parade, and looks forward to it for months!!

And this year, Abbi had fun playing bubbles with a girl whose family sat down by us.

It was fun, as always!!

That night, we kept things pretty low key.  We were unfamiliar with the best places to go for fireworks in this neighborhood, so we drove around for a little bit.  We ended up just parking behind a grocery store a little ways from the West Jordan park where they did fireworks.

It wasn't the perfect spot, but it was good enough - especially since neither of the kids really even seemed that interested in the fireworks.

But overall, it was a great holiday!!  I can't wait to do it again next year!
