Book #5 - Little Women

Little Women
Louisa May Alcott

How is it that I never read Little Women until I was in my 30s? This is one that most every girl has read sometime in their life, and I'm glad I finally did. Let me say first of all that I struggle with the classics. My mind wanders easily, so if I have to concentrate at all, it's hard for me. Not that this book is all that difficult to read, but it definitely wasn't a "pick-me-up-and-read-me-in-2-days" kind of book.

I actually own a copy of this. And I know I've started it many times before, but never made it past the beginning. I'm so glad I stuck with it this time, though, because I really loved this book. I laughed, I cried - and really, it has some great things in it that I thought I need to apply to my life today. And it really made me wish for a simpler life, where evenings were spent sitting around the fire with sewing in my hands. If you haven't read this book before, you definitely need to!

Have you read this book? Share your feelings!

I read this a LONG time ago (I think when I was in fifth grade!) and started reading it over New Years at my parents' house but didn't bring it home with me. Guess I should get it and finish it again. I do know that I loved the movie version of it (with Claire Danes are Beth and, I think, Kirsten Dunst as Amy). Such a good story.

Omigod I love love LOVE this book. I read it several times as a kid. I love the movie, too, and while both versions are good the original one with Elizabeth Taylor is my fave!
